Thunderstruck is a
team of peers and
equals. That might
not mean anything to
you, but what it
means to us is that
no one person on
this team is better
or more important
than anyone else.
So how do we chose a
captain?
We don't. But we
still have a
structure, and have
based our team on
a 'club.' We
have officers
(elected by their
peers) that
change annually.
Our president,
vice-president and
secretary get the
things done that
would normally be
done by the average
team's captain
through committee.
And while they are
committed to this
team and help it
along, again, they
are no better or
more important than
anyone else on the
team. No head, no
foot, no hierarchy,
no 'pecking order.'
Everyone is part of
this team and is
expected to be an
active contributing
member of the team.
Everyone is a key
reason for our
success when we win;
everyone could have
done more when we
lose.
We don't take
'recruits,' we don't
have 'honorary' or
'junior' members and
there is no set
'prospect' period to
be on this team. We
look for attitude,
talent, on and
off-field persona
and most
importantly:
CHEMISTRY with
existing members of
Thunderstruck.
And if you do want
to be on this team,
you're in for a long
ride. We won't risk
the intimacy or
balance of this team
by making the
mistake of adding
someone who might
seem a good fit at
first glance, but
really isn't. We've
done that before and
paid grievously for
it. You're going to
have to prove to us
that you pack to
gear to BE one of
us, that you are
going to commit to
traveling nationally
and make the
required games to
keep your active
status...well,
active.
Our attitude, style
of play and driving
need to be
competitive or
always 'on
top' isn't for
everyone, but it is
what it is. We
don't put ourselves
out there as
ambassadors for the
sport/genre, role
models for children
or tout ourselves as
a template for
others teams to
model themselves
on. While we have
many qualities that
fall into those
previously mentioned
categories, we are
here to play
straight up,
hard-nosed, 'in your
face' paintball...
and as we like to
say: "If you can't
give respect, it
will simply be
beaten out of you."
